Weekend Anxiety
Here’s the rub.
In about 45 minutes–a half hour by the time I get this posted–we’ll be on our way up to Seattle with Kit Kittredge, American Girl (aka Caitlin) for dinner and then her signing with Cherie Priest (FATHOM, the perfect holiday gift for all the boys and girls). So why am I so anxious? Well, the weather reports say snow and with my luck and as past experiences have shown, I’m a magnet for the shit. So, I fully expect to walk out of the University Bookstore tonight and see about 6 inches of snow on the ground.
What? 6 inches doesn’t sound like much? Well around here where even rain turns the average driver into an idiot, 6 inches will turn our regular 45 minute to an hour drive home into a 4 hour bumper to bumper hell. I’m just sayin’. It could happen.
Which means tomorrow’s regularly scheduled Holiday Party to End All Holiday Parties will likely be underattended. This is a party that rotates between our social group and has gone without a hitch for the last 12 years. So tomorrow morning, there’s certain to be a foot of snow.
Which will probably linger through Sunday keeping us from going to the Cookie Party, which I was fairly certain was going to be like this…
ARGH!!!
I’m going to need positive vibes people. The more positiver the better!
See, this is what happens when all the other parts of the country that should not have snow take our snow. As I said earlier this week elsewhere, please return the snow to New England immediately. On a more serious note, I hope that you get a mere dusting, traffic is fine, and your party is well attended.
I’m sending you as many positive vibes as my brain can produce! Really, I’m sure everything will be just FINE. FINE. Really. Or, really good fodder for another blog. Just saying.
