Road Trip of the Lagging Dead

73235712With the reissue of Road Trip of the Living Dead today, you’d think I’d be super excited, frantically checking Amazon rankings, guest blogging everywhere. But no. I’m not doing that. In fact, this is the only post I’ll be doing on the subject. The reason? I don’t think it’s effective. Or rather, it certainly wasn’t effective the first time when I barraged the internet with promo. It’s a bittersweet day for me, I’m still reeling from our oldest dog dying this weekend, my uncle passed away two weeks ago. It’s been a shit year full of economic hardship and worry and yet, my favorite thing that I’ve written is making its debut as an affordable mass market paperback today. Favorites don’t always do well, though, just look at Charlie Sheen (poor Martin) and this was the book that ultimately killed the series with…well the numbers are so low, I can’t even bring myself to type them. All that maudlin shit said, if you’re looking for an over-the-top read that mocks as well as homages the urban fantasy genre and is good for a whole crapload of inappropriate laughs, give it a try.

What you’ll get:

• Skinheads getting massacred.

• Filthy RV sex.

• Inappropriate VC Andrews jokes

• Homeless guys eating fishhooks

• Bizarre religious cults

• Mysterious dildos

* Vampires trapped in toilets

• Zombie bitches talkin’ shit!

Just sayin’.

Sorry it’s been a rough year already. And sorry to hear on the poochie. I know the feeling there. We lost our dog of 12 yrs right before Easter last year. It was a hard one for us.

But on the happy side. One of my friends around here at home saw my review of HAPPY HOUR OF THE DAMNED and is going to get it after the two books she has. She was sold. And Robyn and I are going to do the chat on this book, but it will be a couple months as we have a few lined up.

Try to smile just a little. :) And congrats to you!

Aw, Mark, I’m sorry things have been so shitty lately. I hope it all turns around for you soon. I keep talking up your books to my friends. *I* love your crass zombie humor. Don’t let the sales get you down. Maybe things will change with the mmpb available!

Mark that just blows. I’m sorry all that has happened. I’m with you though I loved this one and hate that it did so poorly. I’m hoping things start to look up for you soon.

I was sold at Filthy RV Sex. Going to Amazon now. (I’m not being facetious, I really am about to go purchase it, haha)

    Hey Mark,

I never understood the fascination with VC Andrews. My ex-bff LOVED those books, but I read a couple of paragraphs and got the nausea headache I usually get when I read bad writing (first time was with Jackie Collins). I will be pushing your stories to the current crop of zombie-fanatics (due to Walking Dead on AMC), so hopefully your numbers will improve.

Understand about Chaz. I was hysterical for two days when Dad put Roxy down, and then I was depressed for a few weeks. She was 15, like Chaz. It’ll take time, but the good thing is that every now and again, when the shit is hitting the fan, Chaz will show up in your dreams and it’ll feel great.

This book just got added to the list of purchases I am gonna make at BAM today. How does one leave a book with that list of “what you’ll get” on a shelf?

Well, it was $15 as a trade paperback. That’s what really killed it, plus this fucked economy.

I was recommended this web site by my cousin. I’m not sure whether this post is written by him as nobody else know such detailed about my difficulty. You’re amazing! Thanks!
