Good Day Y’all. Good Day for Some Free Shiz!

Not today so much as yesterday. Lots of stuff happened yesterday, including but not limited to…

Getting my new glasses…

Which are very German film critic. I even have a new look, it’s called Nordic Judgment or Faux Thug. It’s like so…

All washed out in the flash, but you get the picture. I kinda love ‘em. I got some prescription sunglasses, too which I’m happy with but nowhere near as infatuated as with these. Thanky you Misters Dolce and Gabbana (feel free to scream metrosexual, now–Jaye did). I even got a haircut to commemorate the event, chopping all that bad dye job back to the natural salt and pepper. If I ever dye it again, I’m going dark ash blonde, I like the gray better than the brown, so we’ll see what happens.

Now if only I could dig up some cinema to trash and be disgusted by. That shouldn’t be too difficult.

I’m also lovin’ Todd Thomas (tmthomas for you livejournalers).

I go out to the mail yesterday and what do I find? Only this…

My very own copy of the BBC zombie mini-series Dead Set. I’m as we speak holding it over my own head as a reward for finishing 1500 words, so I’ll be pounding the keyboard right after I finish this blog.

What? Don’t remember Dead Set?

Well, I was only screaming about it awhile back, because it’ll be a year till BBC America pulls it out of their ass and puts it on over here. You remember, Zombies plus Big Brother (the reality show, not the dystopian novel) equals AWESOME.

I thought so.

One more thing I really love is giving shit away.

There was a discussion this morning on the Glamazombies Yahoo Group (join now, tell your friends) about whether when I give things away do people say, “Mark has graciously offered” or do they say, “Mark’s peddling some more nasty shit.” It turns out it’s the latter. I don’t mind, because look what came.

My author copies!!!!

I’m going to give one of these bad boys (girls) away to a lucky commenter (either here or at livejournal). That’s right, it’s a CONTEST. All you need to do is make a film recommendation. Particularly a film that you’re pretty sure I’ll hate and can employ my new Nordic Judgment pose. And for Christ sake tell people about Road Trip, we’re less than a month away from the release and with all the doom and gloom in publishing right now, I’m freaking out. So shout it from the rooftops, buy one for your Granny, or your favorite Christian.

That last part’s a bit of a joke, considering Tower Books has Road Trip in their Christian Romance section. My friend Heather says it’s because God loves zombies, I think it’s because Amanda’s risen. Hard to say though (I will say that the Tower price is under $10, if that sways you either way). Get out there and enjoy you some hardcore Christian necrophilia!

Last thing, how do we like Minipop? This one’s Fingerprints…

Let the entries commence! We’ll keep the contest open till Monday, when there’ll be really big news!!!

Hmmm. Movie that you will hate.

This was the worse 2 hours of my life.

Nice specs. You can definitely put them to good use watching Indiana Jones and the Legend of the Crystal Skulls, or the new The Day the Earth Stood Still. They are the only two movies that made me seriously consider leaving the theater before the end credits.

I agree with Libby and that Southpark episode about Indiana Jones and the Legend of the Crystal Skull. They raped Indie!!!!

    What about SOULTAKER.

    Product Description from Amazon
There is no stairway to heaven–just the Soultaker, out collecting. A violent car accident wreaks havoc with the forces of nature when the crash separates the souls of four “surviving passengers” from their comatose bodies. Now, they must fight for their lives against the powerful and mysterious “Angel of Death” sent to collect their souls.

Now I’ve seen the new Indiana Jones and you’re both right. In fact, I fell asleep at least 3 times. What a big shiny turd.

I was hopeful about The Day the Earth Stood Still, must be my adolescent fixation on Jennifer Connely.

Oh my God, let me see… if your into superheros, nothing screams punishment like Catwoman. If it wasn’t for Halle Berry, I might have beat myself to death with a stick. Or, there’s always My Bloody Valentine… Can you say crap?

  7. Mark Henry said:

Crap Simba? I think not. Did you read the previous post all about My Bloody Valentine and my unrequited love for this little seen 80s classic? The remake was actually entertaining.

You have got to catch a movie called Otis it’s very out there, and just way to funny. It was supposed to be a thirller, but I didn’t more laughing with that than any comedy I’ve seen lately.

Go see Seven Pounds. Be sure to have at least a few drinks first, then you can view this piece of cinematic slop without crying or throwing up.

    Like your glasses!
I must say Sin City was a crapfest! It took hub and I 3 days to watch it! Or maybe Tropic Thunder, that was not too great…..

Oh Michelle, I rented Otis on a fluke and we LOVED it. That was a strange movie but frickin funny! Hope they do a 2nd one… LOL

WOO HOO !!! nice glasses and the books look AWESOME.

Don’t enter me though I will buy it when it comes out

A movie you’re sure to hate, eh? How about Van Helsing, which managed to savage any happy feelings one may have had about not one but three classic Universal monster franchises. Be thankful for your remote, because I wound up sitting through this one in the theater.

A move you’ll hate? Pinata: Survival Island. Although it’s so bad and cheesy, that it rocks.

  14. Becky said:

Crappy movies. Hmmm….Tremors comes to mind but I actually kind of, sort of liked it. Kinda. However, Tremors 2 was downright HORRID!!!

Um….ever heard of a snappy piece of 80’s horror called Pumpkinhead?

I’ll probably get cyber bitch slapped for this but….my all time most hated movie is……

It’s A Wonderful Life. (just jump in the damn river)

Followed closely by the original Heidi. (TURN AROUND for cripes sake!)

I am a scifi buff and my hubby is a indie fanatic, but we both agree that BattleField Earth was the worse movie in human history. How did the cavemen fly the spaceship again? I dont know,I walked out of it. And a close second was The Last Action Hero with Arnold this-movie-suck-mokey-nuts-Swarzenfeffer. Sometimes I want him to die in all his movies.

  16. Chris J. said:

I love the glasses and yeah they are metro sexual, but that’s sexy to some of us! :)
Love the cover and it would look sooo pretty next to the first one, The Happy hour Of the Damned!
So here goes: The Day the Earth Stopped is my family’s choice for yawner movie, they all fell asleep!
Here’s a blurb: Hundreds of massive intergalactic robots appear in all of the major world capitals with an ultimatum: Prove the value of human civilization or be destroyed.

    My choice is: Cloverfield
I mean hello, can we say sick, puke what were they thinking swinging the camera around and big toy creatures eating people or what ever. Gee’s.

Ooops hope no one loves these. :)

LOL! oh boy do i have one for you……..

Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience

Not out yet… but really did we need a movie like this… a big fat no. ;)

  18. Virginia Hendricks said:

The Lizzie Mcguire movie. I liked it, but considering your movie tastes, I can’t see it being for you ;)

  19. Lori C said:

Bad movies huh? Well, there is the 80s classic “The Pirate Movie” with Kristy McNichol and Christopher Atkins or how about Kathy Ireland’s hit “Alien from LA” or it’s sequel “Journey to the Center of the Earth” (not to be confused with the classic of the same name). These movies are before Kathy learned how to speak without sounding like she had inhaled helium.

  20. Jennifer K said:

My husband recommends Alone in the Dark w/ christian slater.
    Love the glasses pretty cool.
Also check out Joe’s Apt a really bad movie w/ Jerry O’Connell and roaches that sing. What a stinker.

  21. Eva said:

Looking over my shelves of movies and I can’t decide which Mark would like and which he’d hate. Hmmmm.

For grins and giggles (at least to me) check out Keeping Mum with Rowan Atkinson and Maggie (oh crap… just forgot her last name. She was McGonnagal in Harry Potter). Anyways it is a fun and mindless trip that you’ll probably enjoy.

Something badly made? That would be just about any movie that Sci/Fi channel makes. They get these big name actors (who cares if they’re a bit out of the mainstream these days) then put them with a crappy script and worse sets behind them. Very cheesy.

A flim you’ll hate? Hmm… well I like mystery and enjoyed the Nancy Drew movie. Bet you’ll hate that., ha!

  23. Terri said:

I would go with Witches of Eastwick – what a horrible movie that was. On and on cherry puking…. And if you have read the incredibly GOOD book, it becomes even harder to sit through…

Once upon a time in Mexico or Bewitched with Nicole Kidman I think was pretty bad.

Vampire’s Kiss with Nicolas Cage……….. so sucked.
I thought it was supossed to be campy. But Noooo
    It was just seriously bad.

Probaly too late to enter, but thats ok, I will buy it when it comes out anyway.

As for movies you may hate, we have different tastes, so my rec’s won’t mean much, lol. I hated Horton Hears A Who. Almost fell asleep, but the kids loved it and I guess that is what counts. And everyone bashing Indy…maybe I was just desperate for some more Indiana Jones, but I kinda liked it…
