Author Avalanche!

The last couple of days have been clogged up with writer events, authors, aspiring writers and the people who love/loathe them. And it ain’t over yet. Today Team Seattle hits the road for a signing in Salem (like I haven’t pimped that one enough), but before then there’ll be luxury hotels, sweaty shopping and a martini slurp-off.

But I digress.

101_6169_2Wednesday was Caitlin Kittredge’s Street Magic reading/signing at University Bookstore in Seattle, so being a loyal-type, I hitched up the wagon and trudged north to meet up with Richelle and Kat for some coffee drinkin’ and writerin’ in public.  You see, Ms. Cherie’s husband Aric roasts coffee and it’s damn good (see for yourself at Fremont Coffee Company, soon to be everywhere).

We picked up Synde and on the way to the event stopped by the amazing St. Mark’s (this is the part where you imagine a halo appearing over my head).  There was a little talk about whether writer’s of such things as sexy vampires (Mead), ghosty otherworldliness (Richardson) and zombie finger-fucking (Moi-how’s that halo comin’?) might fare in the presence of God.  Synde brought a broom and dustpan to collect us.  Here’s some evidence…

That last one’s my favorite. From there it was all about Street Magixes and such as Caitlin read a chapter of Pete and Jack for the crowd and signed books with authory cohort, Kevin Radthorne.

If that weren’t enough, we retired to Atlas Foods (which no longer has a full all-day breakfast menu–commence booing) for martinis (foreshadowing this weekend’s martinifest).  It was all so exhausting.

But wait!

There was another author thingie the very next day. Lisa Mantchev, of the Fairyland Mantchev’s, debuted her book Eyes Like Stars at the University Bookstore in a jam-packed launch party.  Synde and I met up with Team Seattle associate Mark Teppo (Lightbreaker) and braved the excruciatingly slow University Avenue Tully’s for some pre-event caffeination. When we got back the place was hopping.

Wait a minute. What’s this?

That’s right. It’s belle of the ball, San (csinman) all dressed up as Bertie from Lisa’s book. Here he is posing with his fangirl Cherie Priest (along with Lisa’s book). Workin’ it. Workin’.

Here’s what I’m going to need at the Battle of the Network Zombies Seattle signing. It’s like a talent rider. I’m gonna need people to be dressed up as Amanda, Wendy and Gil. If that doesn’t happen I’m going to throw a big huge fit…or I’ll simply read Dorothy Parker quips instead of my own book. Just sayin’.

After the reading, there were delicious cupcakes which I gorged on like some mammoth gorging thing and Lisa signed things.  Here’s that happening…

Good times, people.

Now. I promised to show everybody the cover of the “Family Copy” of Battle of the Network Zombies. This, for those of you unawares, is de rigueur for me after finishing up a book. The friends and family won’t be denied the early read (first one’s to bash me and call me a filthy fucker–you know).  So here it is, complete with the official Battle of the Network Stars colored font splash!

And yeah. That’s Wendy comforting a fucked-up Gil.  I won’t go any farther than that.  Teaser!!!

Okay.

I’m outta here.  As per usual, I’ll be twittering from my phone.  See ya!

You lead a glamorous life, Mark, and your glamorous book cover is super-amazing.

I cannot be Amanda for you because I HAVE NO STYLE. If she was punk I could pull it off, but she’s hip and fashionable, and I am pretty sure she would manifest and eat my face off for daring to put her in my shitty Value Village couteur.

But if I make it, I’ll make sure you get a present of some kind…
